El Gouna · Red Sea
Slow light
Palms, rattan and the marina going quiet. The food has its own pages - this one is about the hour you spend here.
On the terrace
Rattan lamps under a wooden pergola, marble tables, and the marina close enough to hear the halyards.

When the lamps come on
Around six the light goes flat, the lamps warm up and nobody looks at the time again.

The table, before you sit down
Woven placemats, brass candlesticks, dried grasses and a linen runner the colour of the lagoon.

For the smallest guests
A room of their own with a playhouse and a teepee - which is why breakfast here can last two hours.

Details nobody asked for
The washroom got the same treatment as the dining room, and the sign gets photographed more than the food.
